Make This Year’s Style All About Comfort!

Unfortunately, the summer is quickly coming to an end, for many people this means going back to school. Back to school means the dread of waking up early and trying to come up with at least a decent looking outfit when you’ve only slept for three hours. In the beginning, coming up with cute outfits is fun and exciting, this unfortunately gets old pretty fast. To me, one one of the most important ways to limit stress in the morning is to plan your outfit the night before. When I started doing this, I felt like I had so much more time and like I could actually mentally prepare for the day, something almost impossible when you’re trying on a million different outfits with only twenty minutes to spare. For me, looking put together and being comfortable are equally as important for school. My outfit has to be something I’ll be able to wear for 7 or more hours without it starting to feel unbearable. Because of this, I love how trendy and fun pullover sweatshirts have become! As opposed to big frumpy sweatshirts, I’ve noticed fun prints and slimmer cuts that help dress up the classic pullover while still maintaining the high comfort level. An example of this is the Z Supply Animal Flocked Pullover in black, which is carried here at Modern Love and Queen of Hearts! Animal print is a huge trend right now, but I am obsessed with Z Supply’s muted take on it. Being that this pullover is black, it can pretty much be paired with anything despite the animal print. Going along with my love for fun pullovers, Z Supply also makes one that is rainbow striped in what seems to be the world’s softest fabric. It’s so easy to dress both of these pieces up or down!

Although there are numerous options at Modern Love and Queen of Hearts for cute back to school clothes that don’t sacrifice your comfort, the last one I’m going to rave about is the Free People Main Squeeze Hacci Top. It doesn’t get better than this. The soft fabric feels like you’re wearing a cloud, it’s oversized, and has off the shoulder detailing. This top is what I envision when I think of the perfect item of clothing to be wearing for hours on end while still maintaining a put together, trendy look. I also love that it isn’t just plain black or on the other end of the spectrum, an obnoxiously loud color. School is already stressful in itself, having staples in your wardrobe that you can just throw on is so important for those of us that don’t want to look like we just rolled out of bed, even if that is the case. Even though your outfit isn’t by any means the most important aspect of school, this is just one way I like to keep myself feeling good and motivated; especially for those days when it’s the last place you want to be. Feeling confident about what you’re wearing can really brighten up your whole day, and it’s an added bonus when you’re comfortable on top of that! With that being said, remember to express yourself based on who you are, and what you like, regardless of what you think others might say.
